Ground - une suite pour danseurs

With the dancers from Dantzaz, in the Basque Country, Delphine worked on the theme of “ground”. 

The choreography addresses several aspects of this broad theme:

The physical relationship with the ground; the body moving towards the ground, the body pushing away from the ground, the way weight is absorbed, the texture of the ground. This relationship between the body in movement and the use of the ground led to an interplay of suspensions and spirals.

The notion of the ground as nourishing soil, where plants grow, but also the physical relationship with this soil that has to be worked in order to feed oneself. The relentlessness of the task. Ploughing. Planting. Weeding, etc. The repetition. 

The notion of soil as a territory, both geological and man-made. And linked to this concept, that of the individual in relation to the community. How can the individual remain strong while belonging to a community?

And finally, the notion of the awareness of holding something precious that needs to be cared for.
